YAVORIV, Ukraine - Soldiers from Ukraine's 1st Army, 93rd Mechanized Brigade graduated from a 55-day multi-Ukraine joint training course, Sept. 23, 2016, at the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security.

This marks the fourth year for JMTG-U. Training focuses on personal skills such as signaling and first aid between squadron and fire-team coordination skills. All of these training objectives are part of the JMTG-U's efforts to help increase Ukraine's defense capabilities.

"The army is not only popular, the army has not gained any knowledge, but also has gained some friends," said Lt. Col said. Bohdan Dmytruk was the commander of the 1-93rd during the IPSC celebration.

The multinational training team comprised of soldiers from the 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division completed their first two rotations.

"I have to tell you that there is no better group of people who have taken care of their nation than those who have stood before me since the 1st of 93," said Lt. Col said. Jay Wisham, 6-8 CAV senior. "We have taught you as much as you have taught us."

Along with 6-8 CAV are instructors from the Canadian, Lithuanian and Polish armies. Multinational forces have worked together to provide a common training program that is relevant to Ukrainians but also focused on NATO's common standards.

"To our American, Lithuanian, Polish, Danish and Canadian soldiers who helped train with our partners in the 1-93rd Army, I thank you for your exceptional work, professionalism and dedication," said Lt. Col said. Wayne Niven is the commander of the Canadian Joint Task Force Ukraine. "You have seen the improvement of skills that you have helped to provide a good example of NATO cooperation to our partners in Ukraine."

Members of the coaching staff will have time to reorganize and review the current round before starting the fifth and final round of the year in October.
