2023 Army Pay Chart - The Biden administration's fiscal year 2023 budget and the National Defense Authorization Act (which lays the foundation for the defense budget) of the Democratic-controlled Congress both proposed a 4.6% pay increase for military personnel in 2023 (2.7% in 2022).
Has been established after the passage of the 2023 omnibus bill. The updated salary scale (see below) and the 11% housing income changes are detailed below.
2023 Army Pay Chart
While the 4.6 percent base pay increase is the largest increase in nearly 20 years, it remains below current inflation and the 2023 COLA. Government employees on the GS pay scale will also receive a corresponding salary increase in 2023.
Military Pay Chart: Largest Pay Raise In A Decade
Below are the Army pay charts for 2023 based on a 4.6 percent increase. This pay scale covers active duty members (officers and enlisted) of the Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, Air Force and Coast Guard.

Va Disability Pay Charts For 2023
[Updated after enactment of National Defense Act] Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act of 2021 by a veto-proof majority guaranteeing a 3.0% increase in military pay for 2021 following the most recent COLA increase. Revised tables for separate years of service (over and under 20 years)
The military and military personnel are subject to the National Defense Authorization Act of 2020 (NDAA). This is the biggest increase since 2010. The updated salary tables reflect this throughout and will take effect from January 2020.
[Update 2018] In his first year in office, President Trump approved a 2.4 percent pay increase for military personnel and troops under the National Defense Authorization Act of 2018 (NDAA). This is the largest annual increase service members have received since 2010. The updated pay scales reflect the January 2018 increase.
In contrast to the relatively large increase in military pay, the 2018 increase in Allowance for Housing (BAH) was modest, at just 0.7% (or about $10 p.m.). This is paid to approximately one million service members who live overseas in the United States.
Defcon Levels: An Explainer With The Current Defcon Level
[2017 update] The base pay for members of the Defense Forces will be increased by at least 2.1 percent in 2017 after Congress passes the Defense Authorization Act.
Both the House of Representatives and the Senate have passed the bill, which the President signs into law. The 2017 increase is 0.5% higher than the original 1.6% increase approved by Parliament earlier in 2017, and was driven by faster private sector wage growth as the economy improved.
[Revised Pay for 2016 After 1.3% Increase] With the troops finally coming to an agreement on the President's Executive Order (which is an executive order) that could be rolled out before the end of the year, our service members can expect a 1.3 percent increase in base pay in 2016.
This is lower than expected, but at least better than nothing in a relatively neutral inflation environment. Notifies of possible updates as needed when posted by DFAS
