Born from his childhood love of World War II history, Nico's passion for firearms continues to grow as his grades return. He competes in USPSA, IDPA and rifle regional competitions and has an incredible passion for Rosie, his Gen3 Glock 19. Handgun red dot optics are becoming an easy addition to many modern production guns. . One reason for this seemingly sudden appearance is that red dots are more abundant, cheaper and more permanent than ever before. The bottom line, of course, is clear and simple as time will tell and optic ready guns will be an alternative to the mainstream (or near mainstream) rifle shot. As off-the-shelf handguns are quickly becoming commonplace, the old days (or old designs) have not been left behind. The Beretta 90 series has been around since the mid-1970s, and the 92 pistol/pistol model is a complete icon with many iterations.
So I Have Been Carrying The Beretta 92x Compact For 2 Months…
Among the latest additions to the 90 series family is the Beretta 92X, a contemporary take on the Beretta 92 tradition, and it's fast. Railway and Landing! Two years after the Beretta 92X hit the off-the-shelf 92X market, the 2021 Beretta 92X RDO (Red Dot Optic) was launched. I recently had a great opportunity to work with my dream gun. I'll be happy to tell you how it turned out below! Let's dive into this Beretta 92X RDO review!
As I said in the opening paragraph above, the Beretta 92X RDO is a modern version of the 92 without being a full military version. Features a premium Vertec style grip, fully loaded magazine, short trigger guard, scope ready, 0.2” short barrel, front slide serrations and accessory rail. This particular Beretta 92X RDO is J92FR92170 (check the Beretta website) which is a complete 92X RDO FR, the FR indicates that it is a model with an extractor safety instead of an extractor only (G) model. I should mention that the Beretta 92X RDO has a "Universal Slide Design" which means it can be converted from a slide safety model to a slide only model and vice versa.
The MSRP of the 92X RDO is a whopping $749.99, which is only $50 more than the full Beretta 92X model. I say better because today's machine guns are approaching the $1,000 mark, and Beretta has improved its production of the 92 series in a way that keeps the price down without sacrificing quality. Don't get me wrong, $750 is still a lot of money. However, a reliable metal optic pistol in 9mm for the price is reasonable and accurate.
“The new Beretta 92X RDO takes the proven reliability of the venerable 90 series to the next level. The 92X RDO is designed for the best performance for competitive power and safety purposes with a red dot sliding indicator and combat sights for the best options, a short trigger and an enclosed frame Beretta Vertec Vertec The Vertec is strong. grip that makes it more comfortable for all shooters. Proudly built in the USA, the new 92X RDO continues the development of an iconic system that delivers the unmatched performance modern shooters demand. "
Review: Beretta 92x Performance
The Beretta 92X RDO came in the form of Beretta's hard plastic pistol. The holster contains the weapon, two 18-round 9mm magazines (other models have 10-round or 15-round magazines instead), a total of two handles in case the vertical model fits in two or has one side. Small palm answered and normal process of both cable and manual. Although the slide on the Beretta 92X RDO is ready to use, it requires the same adapter as other guns. Unfortunately, none are included (perhaps to reduce waste and cost) and you have to buy them separately. Fortunately, Beretta offers a number of well-designed options, and the price is not that noticeable for most. I made sure to choose a Trijicon optical board for the Trijicon RMR I got (I think I'll buy a single layer for the RMR one day).
Out of the box, the Beretta 92X RDO is unmatched. That's because the Beretta 92X RDO is just that, a range-ready 92X. This is not to say that my first impression of him was wrong in the least. The gun fit like a glove and I was happy to go there with it. First of all, I want to point out that I recently published an article on the exact procedure, the link is here. Speaking of mounting, I have to say that the 92X RDO and its mounting plate are a breeze to work with compared to some of the trickier experiences I've had with other optics.
When I climbed to the top of RMR I went to the range and saw a short day. This day proved to be an emphatic taste of how reliable the Beretta 92X RDO is. After seeing the gun in full view, I found myself helplessly digging a hole. What a beautiful gun to shoot! I couldn't let that decide me right off the bat, so on my second trip to the range, I dove in deep.
I got a lot of practice on my second trip when I caught a big group at 15 boring yards. I started with a low alert and aimed to see how quickly my eye could pick up the red dot and put the lens on the target. They are all in the little three inch circle and some in the money as they say. I did a hands-on demo (none of which was too technical) and I was very happy with the results.

The third mass transport was organized in a different way. I took a Grizzly Targets AR500 Dueling Tree on a family trip to northern Minnesota, which I reviewed and did some video on. You can view the items at the links above. I bought 500 rounds of 9mm Remington Range 115 Grain FMJ and divided them among my family members and divided up the various 9mm handguns, some brought their own. A tremendous firestorm of small arms fire ensued
